The Baltimore Book (National Democratic Convention Number): A Resume of the Commercial, Industrial and Financial Resources, Municipal Activities and General Development of the City of Baltimore. No author. Baltimore, MD: Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, 1912. Softcover. "This book is written in response to the demand for accurate information concerning Baltimore, its resources, its general development, and its municipal activities. The Baltimore Book….deals primarily with the Baltimore of TODAY….What Baltimore is and what Baltimore is doing are herein presented as eloquent and convincing facts. The case is rested without argument. The development of Baltimore along industrial, commercial, governmental, financial and all civic lines, during recent years, has been extraordinary. Imagination plays no part in that statement. Baltimore, as far as the memory of man runneth, has always been big. It started with all the natural prerequisites of a great city. But Baltimore is not only big. It is bigger than ever; not only bigger but better. This is not a vain boast. A few cities are bigger than Baltimore; find a better one. Baltimore has been bountifully endowed by nature, and nature is being assisted by those most skilled in civic development. The following pages will tell how. That is the STORY." Pages 131-142 is a section about the Democratic National Convention of 1912, held in Baltimore, which resulted in the nomination of Woodrow Wilson for President. The book was published when the Convention started. Included is a seating Plan for the convention and gallery, held at the Fifth Regimental Armory. Very well illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographs, including a panoramic view of the Baltimore waterfront. 143 pages with index. Book is in POOR condition. Book is complete with clean text pages, but it needs to be rebound. Paper wrappers. No Jacket. Soft Cover. Book condition: Poor

New Songs: A Lyric Selection Made by A. E. From Poems By Padraic Colum, Eva Gore-Booth, Thomas Keohler, Alice Milligan, Susan Mitchell, Seumas O’Sullivan, George Roberts, and Ella Young. By A. E. (ed) (George William Russell). Dublin, Ireland: O’Donoghue & Co., 1904. Hardcover. "The verses gathered here have been chosen from poems which appeared in The United Irishman and The Celtic Christmas, and more largely from manuscripts entrusted to me by writers too shy to venture on eve n the momentary publicity of a weekly paper. I have thought these verses deserved a better fate than to be read by one or two, not only on account of the beauty of much of the poetry, but because it revealed a new mood in Irish verse. There is no sign that the tradition created by the poets of The Nation which had inspired so many young poets in Ireland has influenced the writers represented here. Miss Alice Milligan has indeed written memorable verses, I think the best patriotic poetry written in Ireland in my time; but, as these are to be issued shortly in a separate volume, I have chosen to represent her here by verses no less Irish in spirit and more in accord with my purpose which was to show some of the new ways the wind of poetry listeth to blow in Ireland to-day…." 56 pages. The tens of thousands of workmen, the hundreds of officers are preparing to scatter to their homes in all parts of the world. The pleasant and hospitable society of the Zone of which I have written is breaking up. Villages are being abandoned, and the water of Gatun Lake is silently creeping up and the green advance guard of the jungle swiftly stealing over the forsaken ground. Fruit-Bearer: What Can I Do For You Lord?--A Guidebook to Fruitful Living in a Rotten-Apple Society

Publisher: Candy's Creations Georgetown, DE, 1995
INSCRIBED on front endpaper: "December 1995 / To L…. H…. / May God richly bless / you through these pages and add His / increase to your harvest. Keep on planting / those good seeds! / Candy Abbott". "This is a book of consecration, commitment, commission, and urgency for grass roots believers who have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to the churches. It’s for the ‘called’ (everyday people God handpicks to bear fruit for His kingdom) and the ‘curious’ (whose who wonder how). "Have you ever wondered, ‘What can I do for You, Lord?’ Then thi book is for you. It’s the story of my own calling or faith journey. It’s a look at priorities: God’s, mine, and possibly yours. It’s an account of how I met and have come to enjoy and depend on the Holy Spirit. "How often does the Spirit visit us in simple, understandable ways, only to find us preoccupied with the cares of this world? How often does the Spirit speak to us, His children, only to be ignored because we don’t know how to recognize His voice? Much of what I have written is devoted to cultivating our listening skills, th ears of the heart. I hope you can relate to my attempts to recognize and respond to the voice of the third person of the Trinity. Perhaps you’ll feel you have joined hands with me in a spiritual adventure that will stir up you own gifts and callings…." xx + 264 pages. ISBN: 1886068003 Signed by Author. No Jacket.
